The aesthetic, fast and functional building curtain wall to service architecture

The aim was to requalify a former industrial area, renovating existing buildings and realizing new ones, to create the "City of Culture" in Milan. The area in question is the former Ansaldo, where action was taken to cover some of the building facades showing the sign of the time. To give continuity to a redevelopment project voted to modernity, led by architect David Chipperfield, Nuova Defim Orsogril Talia Screen was chosen, with its "totally opaque" louver solution to cover building facade with a laminated product in which innovation and design go hand in hand with quality and fast installation.

The new cultural center is characterized by galvanized square-shaped bodies and by a central crystal structure in full harmony with Talia Screen, giving continuity and homogeneity to the project. In particular, Talia was used to cover the building facades of the former Ansaldo smithy, which now houses the Teatro alla Scala warehouses.

Why Horizontal Talia Screen?

Talia Screen has been choosen not only for the aesthetic value, but also because its intallation has allowed to cover quite shabby old brick facades and therefore misaligned with respect to the project. In particular, the Talia "Screen" version is totally opaque: the slats overlap one on the other (differing to the traditional one).
The alternative to cover the facade with Talia Screen would have been the wall restoration with a much more expensive masonry work.

From a technical perspective, Nuova Defim Orsogril has provided over 1200 square meters of cut to size panels sized 1650 x 1975 mm, specifically design and produces for this installation. The above has been possible thanks to the coordination between Nuova Defim Orsogril Technical Office and the Client sharing the complete design details.

The solution Talia Screen, installed by the company Elettrofer Ltd., has made it possible to:

adopt a solution where design and modernity are tuned with the "City of Culture" whole concept"

avoid expensive masonry work, by laying metallic vertical structures anchored to the concrete walls on which Talia Screen panels were precisely and economically fixed with an original technical solution

speed up the installation schedule

receive tailored panels specifically designed on client technical / aesthetic needs
